Welcome to the Kimberly Lab
In the Kimberly Lab, we seek to identify the underlying causes of secondary brain injury, and to translate these fundamental discoveries into diagnostic tools and new therapies. In our pre-clinical studies, we use rodent models of stroke to investigate target pathways. For our clinical studies, we use metabolomics, proteomics, and novel imaging such as low-field, portable MRI to develop biomarkers and prioritize targets for further mechanistic study. Our projects focus on neuroinflammatory mechanisms of brain edema, the role of the gut-brain axis in brain injury, and novel imaging tools to image the brain.
